Added februari 2007. Henrik Andersin has send me the following information: The car was first registered to a dealer in Milan in december 1959.It was finished in blue exterior and white interior. It was exported to California at an unknown date and bought to Finland in 1988. At that time the car was gray metallic with a black interior. The car has the Finnish register number NMV-25. Mr Mikael Airas of Siuntio, Finland bought the car in 1990. He sold the car to me in June 2006. The car is in pieces and is being built back to its former glory. I expect the car to be ready to drive in 2010.

This is the one off Bertone 3500 GT prototype build in 1959. The car was shown at the Turin motor show that same year.The car is currently in Hawaii in a private collection sharing space with some other Italian classics.
Februari 2007. This car was purchased by Tim in an insurance auction in the US (an insurance company paid a claim and as a result owned the car and sold it at auction). The car's history is unknown, but it had been converted to a Buick engine, with an GM automatic transmission. While the body was essentially sound, the frame was completely unusable. The car was decommissioned by Tim, the body was removed, stripped to metal and prepared for long term storage in the event that he needed a spare body in the future.

One family owned car since may of 1962. A true time capsule. Totally original.
The car was Purchased by SF Businessman Mitchel L. Mitchell on April 20 1962 from Mary E. Portalupi
the wife of a San Francisco doctor by the name of Henry C Portalupi, MD. Mary E. Portalupi had
recently acquired the car in a divorce settlement with Henry C Portalupi, MD.
However According to Fabio Colina at Maserati SpA on Nov 19 2010 the car was sold new to
Mr. Stanley W. Good Jr in California.So we are missing some history here about the first owner.
Mitchel L. purchased the car with 3500 miles on the odometer.
During the time Mitchel L. owned the car it was always garaged.
Mr. Mitchel L. Mitchell, passed away in April 1987.
On December 24th 1987 the title to the car was passed to his now 70 year old daughter Gladyne K. Mitchell.
The car sat in the garage until 1987 (10 years) when it was put into storage for 13 years.
Then in Sept 2010 Tony Mitchell the grandson of Mitchel L. Mitchell and son of Holbrook T Mitchel
(Mitchel L Mitchell son) took the car out of the storage and got it running in order to sell.
Tony said he had driven the car to the Concorso Italiano when the show was at Quail.
On Oct 29, 2010 Gladyne K. Mitchell sold it through Gull Wing Motor Cars a NY broker to Francis G. Mandarano.
Upon Googling Mrs. Gladyne K. Mitchell, Mandarano discovered she is a San Francisco socialite who still owns
her fathers home which can only be described as a Renaissance Palace built in 1927 on the gold coast hilltop
in San Francisco.

October 2008 Engine now in Holland. October 2009 The body is used to complete the restoration of the ex- Eddie Fisher / Elizabeth Taylor and later Anthony Quinn 3500 GTI 101-2102.

For sale C&S august 2002, California car Webers 30k miles sunroof ($21.500).
Mileage 75000 (ca 2002). Chrome restored around 1996,interior color black restored around 1991. Owned by several Canadian collectors in the 1970's, sold to California in late 1980s. Michael Buchele reimported the car from San Francisco in August 2003 (bought from John Veitch) to Austria. After a general technical overhoul, spending new electrical parts, rebuilding breaks, new tires and seals, the car got the Austrian registation plates. Later the engine was totally rebuild. The car is fitted with ZF 4 speed gear box, front disc and rear drumbreaks. Borrani whire wheels including spare wheels. Now the car is in a very good condition an FIVA registered.
This car has been scraped.

Februari 2007 Gil bought 101-938 in 1999 in Austin Texas. It will be restored as soon as possible. Looks like it was originally white. Not much of the history is known, but Gil was told it came from California and was used in the made for TV movie Wheels with Rock Hudson. (Boy do I miss that car) I then sold it to Heritage motor car in Los Angeles. 2004 Car was shipped to France. This car was in the magazine Retroviseur in september 2007.

This 3500 has lived it's life in Mexico and is very rust and corrosion free
as a result of this. The car has been sitting for about 10 years and is ready
for restoration. The engine turns over with the key, but it is not running at

I got the following story from Gaynor Martin: My dad bought it in 1963 and re registered it in 1964 in italy, the number is known. This car is totally original it has been stood in my garage since 1974. It is still in good condition but the chrome work is becoming pitted, the car has not been driven for more than thirty years. Many documentation is still with the car. The car has been sold october 2007 in the UK.
The car was in Holland during the 2004-2008 period with Joop Stolze.
September 2008. The car is for sale at Marreyt Classics Belgium.
Sold in december 2008 to the current owner.
Although first believed this was the personal car of Franco Cornacchia, the Milan based Maserati dealer,
the Maserati factory confirms that the first owner was Giorgio Fornari.
It can be assumed that Cornacchia sold the car new to the Milanese Count.
The dealer sticker from Cornacchia is still on the rear screen!
Then the car had a second italian owner before it was shipped to the US.
It was sold to an American customer. An oil change sticker on the door tells
that the car was in the Los Angeles Van Nuys area in 1984. The car was owned in
the US by John Nelson from Northridge, LA. He also owned a 3500 Vignale spider.
This is not far away from Van Nuys so he maybe owned it in the 80's to the early
90's before it came back to Europe.
It was imported to Holland in 1992 by Joop Stolze
who drove the car some time and
even went to Italy and France. According to Joop the car was also owned by the Dutch
Italian car parts specialist Jan Tuynder in the '90.
There has been no welding on the chassis, the steel plating and alloy bodywork.
Most parts of the leather interieur are original. It has the original stitched
plastic upholstery in the boot. The car is equipped with 4 wheel disk brakes.
It came with the original jack, the alloy brace wich keeps the bodywork
protected and the in it's original bag.
March 2008. Owned by the current owner from 1974.
I saw the car in Holland were it was prepared for a road licence. This car was once owned by Dutchman Charles Zwolsman, who was accused / convicted for drugdealing. His classic car collection was auctioned by the Dutch government. In his collection was also a Vignale Spider 101-1007 and several other maserati's.

Dick has a (almost) complete history of 101-1096 sinds new. It was delivered on 15 october 1960 to Albert Plesman jr. who was the son of the KLM co-founder Albert Plesman sr. He was head of the KLM office in Rome. The dealer could be Cornacchia. He took the car to the Netherlands in 1963 and it was registered on 31 may 1963.
Januari 2009. James Perrigoue bought the car in 1970 or 1972 and left it to his sons when he died. Chaz and Joe Perrigoue hope to get the car restored soon.

Satu Johansson bought the car in August 2010 and it is currently taking part in a Swedish Television production
where it will be partly restored (restoration of the original interior, polishing of the paintwork, new chrome work
or actually stainless steel where available, new rubber parts in the suspension etc).
The car was originally sold to Sweden in 1960 and it has stayed here since then. The car was restored in the late seventies in Sweden
and it's tried to maintain the proper patina from a used but loved gran turismo
